A unique patented topical formulation of Vitamin C serum was developed to promote collagen production to help prevent stretch marks from developing during pregnancy. Now proven in clinical trial, there is real science to support this new breakthrough in helping prevent stretch marks during pregnancy.
Procollagen-C™ Formulation
This formulation is ultra-stabilized solution of vitamin C that is patented. Vitamin C is very unstable in solution in the presence of air, light, heat or moisture typically degrading in minutes. it requires expertise in topical formulation to prevent the vitamin c from degrading. Once it is in solution, a 10% concentration is recommended to achieve the necessary effects on the skin. In addition, the pH must be below a pH of 3.5 in order for it to penetrate the skin. Other products avoid these challenges by using vitamin C esters which do not have the same efficacy as natural l-ascorbic acid. If they use l-ascorbic acid, then they typically raise the pH in order not to be irritating which makes it ineffective. Also, after they add vitamin C to their topical formulation, they can claim 10% or higher concentration in the bottle even if it rapidly degrades and there is no effective active ingredient still present. As a informed consumer, you should want to see final concentration data, pH, and stability data all by an independent laboratory. (see independent laboratory testing data for Procollagen-CTM).
